What is a Kinship Caregiver Support Group?

Kinship caregiver support groups create peer support for caregivers who take in children into their guardianship, whether they are a grandchild, a niece/nephew, or a close family friend.

What to Expect in Group:

  • Connect and share experiences with others who are providing kinship care in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Obtain resources you may need, including legal, financial, or the child welfare system.
  • Focus on your own personal self-care, learning from shared experiences on how to manage stress.

What are the Requirements?

  • Must be a relative or close family friend of the child in your care.
  • Must be raising a child (under the age of 18) who is not in the care of their biological parents.
  • Seeking support with challenges that arise from taking care of children who are not your own.
